FAQs
What is the difference between a dynamic muscular therapy session and a sports massage session?
Dynamic muscular therapy addresses the underlying cause of a client’s pain and tension and seeks solutions to resolving the cause. The focus is on evaluation of a client’s specific concern. A great deal of time is invested into listening to the client, carefully tracking their history, and testing the client for injuries and imbalances. After the initial session, the therapist evaluates all the information accumulated, writes up a formal assessment, and emails the initial assessment and recommendations to the client. The client may or may not receive manual therapy during this initial assessment. The client is paying for insight into how to overcome their condition. If the solution involves manual therapy and we can begin treatment in the initial assessment, manual therapy is provided.
Sports massage treatments are 60 or 90 minutes massage therapy sessions. Most all the time is spent on the table receiving massage. Included in the 60 or 90 minute sessions is short intake period at the beginning of each session for the client to express their needs and for the therapist to screen them for conditions for which massage treatments are contraindicated. If a client’s specific request cannot be honored because of a contraindication, the therapist will offer an alternative massage treatment that will also be beneficial for the client. At the end of the session, 5 minutes is provided for the client to dress and pay for the session.
An important note: Whether you are scheduled for dynamic muscular therapy session or sports massage session, you are paying for the therapist’s time. If you are late for a session or cancel within 12 hours of the session, you will be billed for the session.
24 hours notice is required for all sessions. No walk-in or same day appointments accepted.
Do you provide training advice outside of a therapy program?
Yes. For athletes seeking a training program or seeking to improve a current
program, consultations can be scheduled. The charge is the same as for any
initial assessment.
Do your provide rehabilitation of injuries?
No. We can contribute manual therapy as part of a rehabilitation team and we
can contribute a training program to help the athlete transition from
rehabilitation to active athletic participation, but rehabilitation is outside our scope of practice. For a list of excellent
physical therapists, please see the referral page.
Do you work with automobile accident victims?
Soarbody Therapeutics is an athletic performance based practice, dedicated
to helping athletes overcome chronic pain and weaknesses while developing
their potential to excel at their sport. We do not accept acute injuries or
any trauma victims with litigation or possible litigation pending due to
that trauma. We do, however, know many great massage therapists and
chiropractors who do work directly with automobile accident victims. Please
contact me or see the
Forms and
Resources page for more information.
Are you willing to coordinate/communicate your efforts with my physician,
physical therapist, or chiropractor?
Absolutely! We take assessments and scope of practice very seriously, so we have an extensive network of physical
therapists and chiropractors. Given written permission by the athlete to
communicate with health care professionals, we make every effort to so.
Although our focus is performance, the health and well being of our athletes
is a high priority to us.
Do you take health insurance?
No. Check or cash only. We can provide you with a receipt for reimbursement,
but all payments are due immediately at the end of the session – no
exceptions. This requires you have payment with you when you come to a
session.
Do you accept credit cards or ATM cards?
No, not at this time. Check or cash only.
